Work Package 1
Project management and coordination
Lead beneficiary
University of Cyprus - UCY
WP1 will ensure effective coordination among partners and overall project coherency. The five work packages are related to each other, so that the results of each WP contribute to the successful completion of the others. WP1 will co-ordinate and design the scientific strategy for WP2, WP3 and WP4. There will be a high level of interaction and knowledge transfer among WP2, WP3 and WP4, and their results will feed into WP5. During the entire duration of the project, WP1 will be managing and monitoring the progress of all other work packages.
Work Package 2
Research excellence & Training
Lead beneficiary
Natural History Museum - NHM
WP2 will use the substantial expertise at NHM to improve laboratory and bioinformatics methodology at UCY and throughout the network, and will integrate the newly developed methods from genomic observatories (WP3) and analytical procedures (WP4) into the teaching and training. The overarching aim is the integration of recent methods in biodiversity genomics with up-to-date training in these methods. WP2 will advise on the setup of physical laboratory space for genomics methods at UCY and devise methodology in close collaboration with the two empirical work packages (WP3, WP4).
Work Package 3
Networking for protocol unification
Lead beneficiary
Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigationes Cientificas - CSIC
WP3 will promote networking for methodological unification in biodiversity genomics and will stimulate the establishment of a network of EU island Genomic Observatories. This will be achieved by bringing together the collective knowledge and experience of key researchers in genomic-based biodiversity analysis to develop unified protocols.
Work Package 4
Networking for theoretical synthesis unification
Lead beneficiary
Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - CNRS
WP4 will promote networking in biodiversity research towards a broad theoretical synthesis on island biodiversity dynamics. This will be achieved by bringing together key researchers in the area of biodiversity modelling and theory to develop a unified theory of island biodiversity dynamics informed by genomic data.
Work Package 5
Dissemination, communication and exploitation
Lead beneficiary
University of Cyprus - UCY
WP5 will disseminate the iBioGen outcomes to a broad audience at regional, European and International levels and promote exploitation of results through engagement with biodiversity stakeholders.
